Ukraine has long and very strong traditions in theoretical and computational physics. Two of the leading theoretical physicists of the past century were active in Ukraine, Lev Landau in Kharkiv and Mykola Bogolyubov in Kyiv. The strong tradition has continued, where now Lviv can be added as a third important centre.
The strong tradition in theoretical and computational physics has been apparent during a series of Sweden-Ukraine Zoom seminars, starting with the first one on February 6, 2024 and with the 6th as recently as March 11, 2025. Despite the Russian war against Ukraine, and the constant bombardment of Ukrainian cities, the Zoom seminars have rarely been interrupted.
Now it is time for the first in-person conference, with talks recognizing important historical advances in physics, and talks dedicated to modern research in theoretical and computational physics.
