On 7 December the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will open Nobel week with a press conference, where we gather this year’s Nobel Laureates in Physics and Chemistry, as well as the Laureates of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. It will also be possible to make individual interviews with the laureates.
At the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences it has become tradition to start the Nobel week with a unique opportunity for media representatives to meet and put questions to the laureates of the prizes awarded by the Academy – Physics, Chemistry and Economic Sciences.
This year’s prizes were awarded for foundational discoveries that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks, research about protein structures and the importance of societal institutions for a country’s prosperity.
The laureates are: John Hopfield and Geoffrey Hinton in Physics, David Baker, Demis Hassabis and John Jumper in Chemistry, and Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James Robinson in Economic Sciences.
You can read more about the prizes and the laureates below.
Please request individual interviews with laureates after the press conference in the registration form. Interview time slots are limited and will be offered as available. You should also let us know if you want to reserve a space for filming with a camera on a stand during the press conference.
