The Academy has elected Prof. Helga Nowotny, Wissenschaftzentrum Wien, Austria, and Prof. Yoshinori Yasuda, International Research Center for Japanese studies, Kyoto, Japan as foreign members in Class X (humanistic sciences).
Helga Nowotny is a world leading sociologist, with special interest in the relationship between Science, Technology and Society.
Yoshinori Yasuda works within the field of environmental archaeology and has focused his research on the rise and fall of early civilizations in relation to environmental and climatic changes.
