The Gregori Aminoff price for 2005 is awarded to Dr Ho-Kwang Mao, Geophysical Laboratory, Washington DC, USA, ‘for his pioneering research of solid materials at ultrahigh pressure and temperatures’. On June 8 he receives his prize at the academy.
Dr Mao is a world leading high-pressure scientist. Apart from his work at the Geophysical Laboratory, he’s responsible for two other lines of research: at the national synchrotron light source at Brookhaven National Laboratory and the recently opened HP-CAT at Advanced Photon Source in Argonne, Illinois.
He receives the prize in the Beijer hall of the Academy on Wednesday, June 8, at 6 PM, before giving his prize lecture.
